It’s possible that you may already know what the term “SEO” stands for: Search Engine Optimization.
And it’s even likely that you’ve met people that claim to know SEO.
But this much I can guarantee you — no one has given you one extremely useful and valuable tip regarding REAL SEO… until now.
SEO Marketing Tips Revealed?
The wild west of online marketing is an interesting place to live and work.
It is perhaps the last frontier left to “regular” people… sort of like armchair explorers staking claims online.
So what does this observation have to do with SEO?
Well, first a disclaimer of sorts.
Here are some keywords I’d like you to review:

Clearly the people have spoken.
But think about this for a minute… why would anyone who really knows SEO share their knowledge and secrets for FREE?
In other words, why would anyone who really knows what they are doing online (and I can also guarantee you that there are precious few of these people around) help you achieve online success?
To be honest, my biggest dilemma is figuring out what to share with you without giving my secrets away.
And please don’t get me wrong.
I’m not being mean-spirited.
Not in the least. The simple fact remains that 100% of my income is generated online, and 95% is driven by free traffic based on SEO techniques… most of which were created by me and me alone.
In the world of internet marketing there is a phrase which goes something like this: “a technique known is a technique blown.”
Okay, so enough about matters you don’t really care about.
How to Create Your SEO Footprint
I will show you what I mean by SEO footprint and how to create a larger one.
And believe it or not it is really a math problem, much like old algebra problems you probably saw in 9th or 10th grade. Here goes…
Which is better, to target a keyword that has a search volume of 4000 searches per month? Or to target 20 keywords that have 200 searches per month?
They both equal the same 4000 searches — and if you website is on page 1 for the first case (i.e. the search term that gets 4000 searches per month) you can probably count on 10% of that traffic (this can be optimized… but we’ll discuss that another time).
Okay, pencils down.
The answer is — you are better off targeting 20 keywords that each get 200 searches per month than 1 keyword for 4000.
And the reason is simple.
Though you can target a keyword that gets a good amount of search volume each month, so is everyone else. And in the end, all of your effort is only optimizing 1 keyword. That’s like saying your business is based on 1 ad, or 1 business card.
By targeting lower volume keywords, you are going to create more traffic to your site because:
- most people overlook these keywords
- it will take less effort (all things being equal) to get on page 1 for that keyword
- by targeting 20 keywords you are creating a larger footprint
Do you see how this makes sense?
In the end, the more keywords you can effectively target (and get on page 1 for) the more traffic your site will get. Next time I may share with you just HOW you can target these keywords effectively.
And yes, it’s more work than you think…
